BRUSSELS. "“ November 3, 2008 "“ With sixteen days to go, top companies are now preparing to share their sustainability strategies at The Sustainable Manufacturing Summit Europe in Brussels, November 19-21

In the last couple of weeks more speakers have been added to the impressive line-up including: Pavel Misiga, Head of Unit, Environment and Industry from the European Commission, who will be talking about the recently announced plans for a revamped eco-labeling scheme. Also recently added from Nokia’s environmental team is Kaisa-Reeta Koskinen who will be presenting a case study on product life-cycle analysis.

Senior sustainability experts from STMicroelectronics, Cisco Systems, HP, Danone Beverages, Volvo and more are confirmed to present in sessions examining corporate sustainability trategies, energy efficiency, life-cycle analysis, eco-labeling, water footprinting, recycling and eco-management.

As well as many benchmarking case studies, the conference agenda includes updates on the European Commission’s recently announced Action Plans for Sustainable Consumption and Production and the likely format of the soon to be revised EMAS (Eco-Management and Audit Scheme) Scheme.

The event also includes a specially arranged post-conference workshop on "Becoming Carbon Neutral." The aim of the workshop "“ led by sustainability experts First Climate "“ is to help manufacturers develop a comprehensive carbon management strategy.

The conference concludes with the presentation ceremony for the 2008 EMAS Awards. This year’s awards focuses on energy efficiency and emissions reductions and will recognize outstanding performances in this area within organizations across Europe.
