Helping children in need celebrates Tassimo - Starbucks alliance

Dec. 11 /CSRwire/ - TARRYTOWN, N.Y., Dec. 11 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- What's better than waking up to a freshly-brewed cup of coffee after a good night's sleep in your favorite pair of PJs? Helping to ensure that children in need have the chance to sleep in warm pajamas, too.

Kraft Foods, the company that introduced the Tassimo single-serve hot beverage system, presents the perfect opportunity to keep kids warm this winter, and leads the charge with its own donation. Tassimo is pleased to announce it is donating $25,000 to the Pajama Program, a national non-profit organization that provides new pajamas and bedtime stories to children in foster care. The donation marks the national launch of four Starbucks(R) coffee blends available for the first time in T DISC form for Tassimo. Consumers can now enjoy a perfect cup of freshly-brewed Starbucks(R) coffee at home.

"Tassimo is proud to be able to offer Starbucks(R) coffee blends to consumers with the convenience of the Tassimo at-home and we're just as proud to help the Pajama Program give comfort and a good night's sleep to children in need," said Lori Acker, Director, Tassimo U.S., Kraft Foods.

At an event in New York City today, Tassimo presented its donation to the Pajama Program as consumers stopped by to donate pajamas and books and enjoy a complimentary cup of Starbucks(R) coffee made in the Tassimo brewer. Kraft Foods also will be conducting a pajama drive among employees at its Tarrytown campus. Tassimo invites consumers and other companies to consider donations to the Pajama Program throughout the holiday season, as well. Contributions can be made by visiting the Pajama Program's Web site (www.pajamaprogram.org) or by finding a local Pajama Program chapter.

Through the efforts of Pajama Program Founder Genevieve Piturro, more than 150,000 pairs of pajamas have been donated and distributed through 55 chapters in 33 states since its establishment in 1991.

"We are so appreciative of this generous gift," said Piturro. "Thanks to Tassimo, more than 1,200 children will receive four pairs of pajamas during this critical time of year. With the weather becoming colder, children need warm pajamas more than ever."

About the Pajama Program

The Pajama Program, a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization, provides new, warm pajamas and books to children in need throughout the United States and around the world, many of whom are waiting and hoping to be adopted. These are youngsters who may not know the comforts of a mother or father to tuck them into a cozy bed and read them a bedtime story. Too many have been abandoned, most deprived of any love at all.
