Consorta Board Appoints Darrel Weatherford President and Chief Executive Officer

SCHAUMBURG, Ill., Feb. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Consorta announced that its board of directors has named Darrel Weatherford to serve as the company's president and chief executive officer, effective December 3, 2008. He had served as interim president and chief executive officer since October 2008.

Weatherford, 48, was the company's chief operating officer since 1999, overseeing the majority of the operational aspects of Consorta, including contract development, account management and general operations.

"We are very pleased Darrel has agreed to serve as Consorta's president and CEO," said Lou Fierens, Consorta chairman and senior vice president of Supply Chain and Capital Projects Management at Trinity Health. "Darrel has been with Consorta since its inception, and is ideally suited to lead us in our mission to provide quality, committed group purchasing agreements to our membership."

Weatherford has more than 20 years of experience in the group purchasing industry, having previously served as Vice President of Contracting at Premier, Inc. in Oak Brook, Ill. He has also held group purchasing positions with the University Hospital Consortium, Oak Brook, Ill., and Humana, Inc., Louisville, Ky.

A 1983 graduate of the University of Tennessee with a bachelor of science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Weatherford received a Masters Degree in Business Administration from his alma mater in 1985.
