NEW YORK, NY "“ StartingBloc, a non profit that educates undergraduates and young professionals on social responsibility, in partnership with CSRwire and The United Way of New York, will hold its first CareerAccelerator on Saturday, October 27, 2007 at the NYU Wasserman Center for Career Development.

This groundbreaking career fair is open to all businesses, non-profits, as well as graduate and MBA schools that are interested in offering jobs, internships, expertise, funding and academic programs that embrace corporate social responsibility and social entrepreneurship. The CareerAccelerator will target and attract emerging leaders drawn not only from StartingBloc's countrywide network of 120 affiliate colleges, but also from massive publicity offered by CSRwire’s and StartingBloc's large scale media outreach.

"Having supported StartingBloc's mission since their inception, CSRwire is proud to sponsor the CareerAccelerator," notes Greg Schneider, Director at CSRwire, "We have been impressed with the level of talent and commitment demonstrated by StartingBloc Fellows. The opportunity to connect highly talented emerging leaders with socially responsible organizations provides both parties with unique opportunities."

"We want to break the assumption held by many undergraduates and young professionals that they have to choose between their values and their career. Through the CareerAccelerator, we will expose them to professions in every sector that link positive social and environmental returns to economic growth" adds Executive Director, Joanna Opot. "StartingBloc is thrilled to offer this unprecedented opportunity to highly talented emerging leaders and organizations."

StartingBloc is supported by many of the world's leaders in corporate social responsibility and social innovation including Goldman Sachs, Echoing Green, General Electric, ZipCar, Ashoka Foundation, Rabobank and The Rudolf Steiner Foundation among others.

Since inception in 2003, StartingBloc has held conferences on corporate social responsibility, social entrepreneurship and cross sector partnerships in Boston, New York, Philadelphia and London at leading academic institutions such as Harvard Business School, Massachusetts Institute of Technology Sloan, Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, Fletcher School of Tufts University, Wagner School of Public Service at New York University and London Business School.
