PETALUMA, CA. "“ January 13, 2009 "“ HydroPoint Data Systems Inc., provider of the WeatherTRAK)R) Smart Water Management solution, today announced that Regency Centers, a national owner, operator and developer of grocery-anchored and community shopping centers, has deployed WeatherTRAK at 30 of its shopping centers as part of the company's greengenuity(TM) initiative, which includes outdoor water conservation.

HydroPoint's WeatherTRAK Smart Water Management technology will be initially deployed at 30 of Regency's existing shopping centers in Arizona, California, Colorado, Oregon, and Washington that have installed high efficiency "smart" irrigation to sharply reduce Regency’s outdoor water consumption. By installing WeatherTRAK, Regency anticipates saving 42 million gallons of water yearly.

WeatherTRAK utilizes pinpoint, microclimate weather data from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to automatically schedule irrigation based on individual landscape needs and local weather conditions. This dynamic adjustment of water output eliminates the need to manually adjust irrigation systems while reducing water use by up to 59 percent and water runoff by 71 percent, meaning landscapes attain their full water conservation potential. The dynamic nature of this technology is ideal for corporations like Regency Centers with properties in distinct regions of the country, each with its unique microclimate, that WeatherTRAK takes into account.

"We applaud companies like Regency Centers who embrace the concepts of Sustainability 2.0 that concurrently prioritize economic benefits and conservation to create on-going sustainability programs to generate quantifiable ROI," said Chris Spain, chief strategy officer for HydroPoint. "By adopting Smart Water Management, Regency Centers will save millions of gallons of water a year, serving as an excellent example for other retailers and real estate companies to follow, while seeing water cost savings that will pay for WeatherTRAK in less than two years."

HydroPoint forms the backbone of the water conservation element of Regency's greengenuity(TM) initiative that improves Regency's environmental performance throughout its portfolio of existing shopping centers and new developments. Regency Centers' greengenuity(TM) initiative is an example of Sustainability 2.0(TM) in practice. Sustainability 2.0 strategies encourage retail outlets, enterprises, municipalities, and water districts to implement sustainability programs that deliver both financial cost savings and environmental benefits achieved through conservation.

"With its greengenuity(TM) initiative, Regency Centers is integrating sustainable strategies into core business practices that not only deliver environmental benefits, but also generate ROI that makes smart business sense," said Mark Peternell, Regency's VP of sustainability. "HydroPoint's Smart Water Management will be a cornerstone in our efforts to save water and reduce our corporate water footprint while lowering water bills, minimizing landscape replacement and over-watering maintenance costs. In addition to environmental benefits, this technology will provide cost savings for our company and tenants."
