Leading Figures to Come Together to Discuss Business Opportunities of Climate Change

March 18, 2008 - Leading figures in environmental sustainability will come together next month to discuss the many business opportunities of climate change.

'Articulating The Opportunity For Business' will unite many of the most influential figures and organisations leading the charge to accelerate the development and implementation of new, climate-friendly ways of living within the limitations of our fragile environment.

Speakers include senior representatives of major consumer brands including Marks & Spencer, BT, IKEA, and emerging green brands including Good Energy and Abel & Cole; leading academics including Sir David Smith of Oxford University; non-profit organisations including Forum For The Future; and entrepreneurs including Martin Chilcott, CEO of the environmental business network, 2degrees Ltd.

With business such an agent of change, the event will first take a glance at the latest drivers of change "“ particularly science and policy "“ with a focus on articulating the business opportunity of a low carbon economy. The line-up boasts some of the most influential individuals in the vanguard of commercial responses to climate change, to help understand the size and nature of various opportunities and the inherent challenges.

The event, a collaboration between Said Business School, Green Business Events and 2degrees Ltd. takes place on Monday 14th April at the Said Business School, University of Oxford. Charlie Browne "“ UK Environmental Lead for IKEA, with eleven years experience in environment and sustainability issues

Malcolm Smith - Head of Integrated Urbanism for Arup, leading a wide range of urban design projects including Stratford City, the mixed use metropolitan centre in East London which includes the London 2012 Olympic Village

Ella Heeks - Director of the UK's leading organic food company Abel & Cole, voted Ethical Businesswoman of the year in 2007

Peter Madden - CEO of Forum for the Future, the UK's leading sustainable development charity, working with a range of sectors to find positive solutions to tomorrow's problems
