LOS ANGELES, CA. - May 6, 2009 - The California Housing Consortium (CHC), the state's premier housing advocacy organization, today inducted Union Bank, N.A., into the California Housing Hall of Fame. The CHC presents the Hall of Fame award to individuals or organizations that have demonstrated a substantial contribution toward the creation of affordable housing in California.

The award highlights Union Bank's commitment to increasing the supply of high-quality, affordable housing. The bank's Community Development Finance (CDF) division provides financing to developers that build housing throughout the United States for a variety of low- to moderate-income populations, including working families and individuals with special needs, such as farmworkers, the homeless and seniors.

Since its founding in 1995, the CDF division has provided more than $3 billion in financing for affordable housing, resulting in the creation of more than 25,000 units. Union Bank's charitable foundation helps to enhance the impact of its financing by reinvesting two percent of the bank's net profit annually in the communities where it does business.

"CHC is proud to induct Union Bank into the California Housing Hall of Fame," said Ray Pearl, executive director of the California Housing Consortium. "By providing capital and grant support that is vital to development, Union Bank has improved the lives of thousands of individuals and families throughout California."

Other inductees into the 2009 CHC Hall of Fame include A Community of Friends, the California Community Reinvestment Corporation, and Theresa Parker, the former executive director of the California Housing Finance Agency.

"I am honored to receive this award on behalf of Union Bank and alongside the other distinguished recipients," said James Francis, senior vice president and head of Union Bank's Community Development Finance division. "We share the California Housing Consortium's belief that affordable housing should be available for all Californians-and will continue working with our partners to pursue this goal in the months and years to come."
