RACINE, WI -- JohnsonDiversey continues its rich company history of responsibility, accountability and stewardship with the release of its first Global Responsibility Report for 2004.

The report highlights the company's economic, social and environmental performance around the world. It demonstrates JohnsonDiversey's commitment to sustainability and mission to be its customers' best partner in maintaining safe, healthy, high performing facilities.

"We recognize the enormous environmental impact of the cleaning and hygiene industry and are doing something about it," said S. Curtis Johnson, JohnsonDiversey Inc. chairman. "Along with an enthusiastic response from our customers, we are leading the way to becoming better citizens of the planet."

The report covers a wide range of issues that impact customers, employees and the communities that JohnsonDiversey serves. Organized around the theme of responsibility, the report highlights JohnsonDiversey's ResponsibleSolutions program, which articulates how the company goes to market as a responsible manufacturer, employer and neighbor.

"At JohnsonDiversey, being a responsible company is about more than what we accomplish behind the scenes as good stewards of the planet," said Greg Lawton, JohnsonDiversey president and CEO. "It's about profitably providing customers with innovative products that help them reduce their environmental impact and protect human health and safety."'

Among the highlights of the report:

  • JohnsonDiversey programs like Health High Performance Cleaning and SafeKey are helping its customers provide environmentally sound, healthy and safe solutions to their cleaning, hygiene and food safety needs.

  • The company led by example, by having its Racine, Wis., headquarters LEED-EB certified. In doing so, JohnsonDiversey was one of four organizations to receive the first Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification for Existing Buildings and realized an annual return on investment of $137,000 in operational savings.

  • Environmentally, the company has a proven track record for reducing overall water use, energy use and waste.

  • Employee injuries have been reduced by 50 percent since the start of the Target Zero safety effort in 2002.
