Kraft Foods’ Support of Brazilian Coffee Industry Honored by Brazilian Exporters

SAO PAULO,BRAZIL – Kraft Foods Inc. (KFT: NYSE), a global leader in branded foods and beverages, announced today that its international coffee business was honored by Brazil’s Council of Green Coffee Exporters [Conselho dos Exportadores de Café Verde do Brasil (CeCafe)] for its outstanding contribution to the Brazilian coffee industry. The award was presented to Kraft at a celebration held on February 21st at the Teatro Municipal of Sao Paulo, where recognition was given to representatives from both the private and public sectors that have made important contributions to the development of the Brazilian coffee industry. Tom LeBreton, head of coffee purchasing for Kraft’s international business, accepted the award on behalf of the company.

“Kraft is a corporation with wide renown in the international market, and has maintained a long tradition of preference and use of Brazilian coffee. Kraft being the largest purchaser of green coffee in Brazil, has conferred great prestige on our product and more credibility in the international market,” said Guilherme Braga Abreu Pires Filho, Director General of CeCafe.

“Brazil’s position as a major presence in the coffee market is due not only to its ability to provide high volume quality beans, but to the well-organized, professional industry infrastructure which supports it, exemplified by groups such as CeCafe,” explained Tom LeBreton. “We are honored to be recognized with this award and are committed to continuing our support of the coffee industry in Brazil,” he continued.
