Join this all-star event to commemorate one year since the Gulf Oil Spill.
This is a once in a lifetime event to call attention to devastation of the Gulf Oil Spill - the largest environmental disaster in our nation's history - that took the lives of hundreds and thousands of creatures, destroying the web of life in one of the Earth's most important habitats, and those people who directly depended on it.
Top artists from music and film will be featured including Kevin Costner and Modern West, Voices of the Wetlands featuring Tab Benoit, Brad Pitt, , The All Star Band ( featuring Kenny Aronoff, Oliver Leiber, Aaron Hersey, Scott Page, & Martin Guigui), Cyril Neville, Anders Osborne, Johnny Vidacovich, Big Chief Monk Boudreaux, Johnny Sansone and Waylon Thibodeaux, James Carville, Frances Beinecke President of the Natural Resources Defense Council, Robin Mann President of the Sierra Club, Captain Paul Watson founder of Sea Shepherd Conservation Society and star of Whale Wars, Dr Ira Leifer Chief Mission Coordinating Scientist for NASA Gulf Mission, Environmental Attorney Stuart Smith, Bonny Schumacher (NASA/JPL) Founder Wings of Care, Daryl Hannah, Dr. Riki Ott, Senator Robert Graham, Co-chair of the President's National Oil Spill Commission, and special guests. A special sneak trailer of the upcoming film The Big Fix directed by Josh Tickell from GreenPlanet Productions will be screened and a major international media effort to address industry spin in media Counterspin unveiled.
There will be celebrity speakers, a short PSA film presentation directed by Trey Fanjoy, and people from across the Gulf Coast impacted by the spill. The Sierra Club, the NRDC (Natural Resources Defense Council), WWOZ New Orleans, and Stuart Smith are also sponsoring the event. The evening will be broadcast live.
All the proceeds will be go to The Oil Spill Memorial Fund administered by the Rockefeller Brothers Foundation and the Gulf Coast Fund. The fund will benefit Gulf Coast grass-roots NGO's to pay for desperately needed medical care for victims of the oil spill though medical clinics for humans including vision and dental, and veterinary services for animals with 2 full-service clinics scheduled to be operational in May; one in Louisiana and one in Alabama. Due in part due to a lack of media attention, but owing more to an aggressive campaign by BP to ensure that medical providers and government officials do not acknowledge the problem, the vast majority of the American public is unaware the true extent of health impacts on people and animals along the effected regions of the Gulf Coast from Louisiana to Florida.
Join American Renewable Energy Day: AREDAY http://www.areday.net/ and other sponsors who support this. Due in part to a lack of media attention and in part to BP's aggressive media campaign which seeks to ensure that medical providers and government officials do not acknowledge the problem, the vast majority of the American public is unaware of the true extent of the BP Deepwater Horizon oil spill's health impacts along the effected regions of the Gulf Coast from Louisiana to Florida.
Harmony for Health's mission is to raise $750,000.00 for the victims of the BP disaster. This will enable them to set up medical clinics and secure the funds necessary to keep them in operation. Earth Advertising supports this important event that promises to be a once in a lifetime experience. Tickets are $50, and sponsorships are still available at http://www.harmony-for-health.org/events_hob.htm.
