Today’s call for Talkback submissions for the month of May asks you to share your wisdom on human rights, equality and diversity.
UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon recently framed the 17 draft Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) into six ‘essential elements’ of dignity, prosperity, justice, partnership, planet and people, ensuring human rights, equality and diversity place as foundational pillars of every organisation’s considerations until at least 2030.
How do we accelerate progress on issues including race, religion, gender, age, disability and sexual orientation?
“Women and men who understand that gender equality is not just morally right, but is the smart thing to do are growing in number,” said Hillary Clinton at the largest private sector gathering at the UN Commission on the Status of Women Support Strategic Partnership to Deliver on Gender Equality.
We also saw a great case study on embedding human rights from Microsoft courtesy of BSR into human rights issues across one of the largest technology companies across the globe.
Be bold. Be provocative. Be inspirational. We’ve a world of prejudice and discrimination to overcome, and here is your platform.
To encourage those thoughts…
- What would the business world look like tomorrow if we reversed gender inequality overnight?
- Who has most effectively turned compliance into opportunity?
- How is modern religious intolerance defining the way we conduct business?
- Where is collaboration winning the biggest battles?
- What are the stories of your unsung heroes battling against workplace discrimination?
- Is the moral case for balance stronger than the business case?
If you think you can write 500 words or more that can move the debate forwards and engage a knowledgeable community, then we want to hear from you. We don't guarantee publication, but if your submission doesn't make it on to our premium Talkback channel with all the spotlight we shine, there is a strong chance it could be suitable for our parallel CSRlive channel, Justmeans or Social Earth platforms for the world to see.
To submit your article please send your article, with suggested title, as a Word document to firstname.lastname@example.org with 'Talkback: Human Rights: A Rainbow of Challenges’ in the subject line, to include a short bio, headshot photo and any accompanying imagery with appropriate rights clearly available.
There is no specific deadline for articles as we are always happy to receive inspirational content, but anything received after 18 May 2015 may miss the main spotlight across our communities until the end of that month.
Don’t miss June’s Talkback series on Energy. We will send out a call for your submissions in mid-May to remind you. This one will be hot!
