Report Highlights

Export Development Canada (EDC), Canada's Export Credit Agency, is pleased to announce the release of its 9th Annual Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Report which can be viewed here.  Le rapport est également disponible en français.

EDC has developed its report according to the Global Reporting Initiative’s (GRI) new G4 Sustainability Reporting Framework.

“There is a strong public expectation that EDC, as a Crown corporation that represents the Government of Canada, make sure that the business we consider is performed in a responsible and ethical manner,” said Signi Schneider, Vice-President, CSR, EDC.

The report highlights EDC’s opportunities in 2013 to integrate corporate social responsibility practices with its business activities.  Developed exclusively as an online product, the report uses profiles of EDC business transactions, as well as videos to illustrate how this is done.

Highlights of the 2013 report include:

  • Helped small and medium-sized entreprises (SMEs) conduct $11.6 billion in exports;
  • The development of EDC’s first Green Bond offering;
  • Playing a key role in revisions to the Equator Principles framework (EP III) which guides how the financial industry looks at the environmental and social impacts of large infrastructure projects; and
  • A review of EDC’s internal anti-corruption risk assessment process, to strengthen its due diligence tools for higher-risk sectors and to incorporate amendments to the Corruption of Foreign Public Officials Act (CFPOA).

Stakeholders are welcome to provide feedback to csr-rse@edc.ca.
