The Companies Vs. Climate Change Conference will welcome Alaska, JetBlue and United Airlines for a panel on December 2 in Fort Lauderdale, FL.
www.solveclimatechange.com This is the first-ever conference focused on bringing together companies from around the world to discuss climate change and how they can work together to address it.
The two airlines will discuss sustainability efforts and operational efficiencies within the airline industry. This comes on the heels of the ground-breaking agreement by the International Civil Aviation Organization (IACO) to cap carbon-dioxide emissions at 2020, by 2035, bringing together 64 countries representing 80 percent of global air traffic.
The presentation by Sara Lindenfeld, sustainability analyst at JetBlue, will include an overview of the airline’s sustainability platform and its efforts to address climate change. The panel will also include a conversation between Jacqueline Drumheller, Sustainability Manager at Alaska Airlines, Aaron Stash, Manager - Environmental Strategy and Sustainability at United Airlines and Ms. Lindenfeld, to discuss industry best practices and the future regulatory environment.
“I am eagerly anticipating having a lively discussion and comparison of airline environmental strategies with two of Alaska Airlines’ peers,” said Drumheller of Alaska Airlines.
“We are excited to participate in the first-ever Companies Vs. Climate Change conference,” said Lindenfeld of JetBlue. “JetBlue believes in communicating transparently about climate change. We are committed to addressing emissions and becoming more efficient through new technologies. This is a joint effort; businesses must join together for a low-carbon future. We look forward to sharing best practices with our peers.”
The conversation plenary will open the third day of the conference which will bring together leading sustainability experts and corporate leaders to connect around climate change solutions.
“Since March of 2016, all United flights departing LAX have been fueled in part by sustainable aviation biofuels – the largest and only program of its kind in the United States,” said Stash at United Airlines. “However, it will take the entire airline community, coming together to increase the use of low carbon fuels to reduce our collective footprint.”
“We are excited to convene this conversation for two airline industry leaders, who are at the forefront of innovative solutions to tackle the climate crisis,” said Jason Youner, CEO, Companies Vs. Climate Change. “This is just one part of a three-day agenda to bring together leaders to find business-driven solutions for current and future generations.”
