The Hispanic Association on Corporate Responsibility (HACR) is pleased to announce that United States Secretary of Labor Thomas E. Perez will deliver the luncheon keynote speech at the HACR 24th Annual Symposium on Tuesday, May 3, at the Mandarin Oriental in Washington, D.C. The HACR Symposium brings together hundreds of Hispanic corporate, business, and community leaders to discuss issues relating to Hispanic inclusion in Corporate America.

“We are deeply honored and thankful to have U.S. Secretary of Labor Thomas Perez address the HACR Symposium on such a monumental year, our 30th Anniversary as an organization,” said Cid Wilson, president and CEO of HACR. “Secretary Perez brings deep knowledge of workforce development, private-sector job creation, and 21st century challenges and opportunities that impact the Latino workforce population.”

Secretary Perez is the nation's 26th Secretary of Labor. He has dedicated his entire career to making good on the promise of opportunity for all. A civil rights lawyer by training, Secretary Perez leads the U.S. Department of Labor in its mission of giving all Americans the chance to get ahead and stay ahead. Prior to his cabinet-level appointment, Secretary Perez served as assistant U.S. attorney general for Civil Rights at the U.S. Department of Justice. In both positions, he was nominated by President Barack Obama and confirmed by the United States Senate.

He was the first Latino elected to the Montgomery County Council, where he served from 2002 to 2006. He was then appointed secretary of Maryland's Department of Labor, Licensing, and Regulation by Governor Martin O’Malley. The son of Dominican immigrants, he was born and raised in Buffalo, New York and is a graduate of Brown and Harvard Universities.
