TEAM Coalition Launches Raise One Million Arms Campaign for Alcohol Responsibility Month

Techniques for Effective Alcohol Management (TEAM) Coalition today announced the launch of a new campaign in support of Alcohol Responsibility Month. The campaign, called Raise One Million Arms, sets a lofty goal – one million online pledges not to drive drunk – all collected in the thirty days of April.  The approach is unique – twenty-four of the most influential entities in sports and entertainment all reaching out to their employees, customers, vendors and partners simultaneously with a simple message – raise your arms. Raise your arms for the excitement of the game, the race or the show. Raise your arms to celebrate a victory or an amazing performance. And raise your arms for Alcohol Responsibility Month.

That’s the metaphor.

The call to action is to go to www.RaiseOneMillionArms.org and enter your name and email address as your pledge not to drive drunk. Should 1,000,000 or more people raise their arms against drunk driving, then one of those responsible people also will feel pretty darn lucky when he or she (and a guest) attend the 2016 ESPY awards.

Rewarding responsible behavior is not new to TEAM Coalition. The Responsibility Has Its Rewards campaign has been the organization’s flagship message for more than a decade to encourage sports and concert fans to be designated drivers for their friends and family. In the last twelve months, more than 1,000,000 people made the pledge not to drink at the game or show and provide a safe ride home for their group. And a small percentage of those designated drivers have enjoyed incredible rewards, including complimentary trips and tickets to Super Bowl, Pro Bowl, the World Series, MLS Cup, the NBA Finals, All-Star Games for MLB, MLS, NBA and NHL, NASCAR races, Live Nation concerts and the NCAA® Men’s Final Four®.

With the Raise One Million Arms campaign, all TEAM Coalition member organizations, and eight strategic partners, are united in a common goal – prevent drunk driving, prevent the needless deaths of nearly 10,000 Americans every year. "The success of all TEAM Coalition programs is a direct result of the commitment from our member organizations, the facility employees who follow and enforce alcohol policies and guests who participate in responsibility programs," said Jill Pepper, executive director of TEAM Coalition. "Teamwork is what this organization and the Raise One Million Arms campaign are all about. We are demonstrating that when everyone takes responsibility, everyone wins."
