BOULDER, CO, Oct. 19 /CSRwire/ - Renewable Choice Energy announced today that it has received a 2015 Green Power Leadership Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).  EPA’s annual Green Power Leadership Awards recognize the country’s leading green power suppliers for their commitment and contribution to helping advance the development of the nation’s voluntary green power market.  EPA presented Renewable Choice Energy with the Green Power Supplier of the Year award at an event held in conjunction with the 2015 Renewable Energy Markets Conference in Arlington, Virginia on October 19, 2015.

Renewable Choice Energy was one of only three green power suppliers nationwide to receive a Green Power Supplier of the Year Award. The award recognizes green power providers for outstanding efforts, initiatives, and programs that significantly proliferate the use of green power within American businesses and residences and advance the development of green power sources.

“It is an honor to be recognized by the EPA with this prestigious award for our contribution to the green power market for the second year in a row,” said Quayle Hodek, CEO of Renewable Choice Energy.  “Use of green power by commercial and industrial organizations is exploding, and we are proud to part of the clean energy revolution.  Clean sources of electricity are a sound business decision and an important choice in addressing climate change.”

Green power is zero-emissions electricity that is generated from environmentally preferable renewable resources, such as wind, solar, geothermal, biogas, eligible biomass, and low-impact hydro. Using green power helps accelerate the development of new renewable energy capacity nationwide and helps users reduce their carbon footprints.

“EPA is pleased to recognize Renewable Choice Energy with a Green Power Supplier of the Year Award for its leadership in expanding the nation’s renewable energy industry,” said EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy. “Through its development of new renewable energy capacity, Renewable Choice Energy is helping to address climate change and put our country on a path to a future powered by renewable resources.”

Since its founding in 2001, Renewable Choice has supplied green power in the form of renewable energy credits (RECs) to thousands of North American businesses including more than 160 of the Fortune 500.  In 2006, the company helped Whole Foods Market to become the first corporation to become 100% wind powered, and since that time, hundreds of other large, multinational businesses have followed suit.  The company also supplies verified emission reductions (carbon offsets) to its customers, and provides consulting services to large corporate and institutional entities seeking to save money with renewables under a utility-scale, long-term power purchase agreement.  This is the second consecutive year that Renewable Choice has received the Green Power Supplier of the Year award.
