NYC's premier event for building & energy practitioners

On October 15th 2015, at the TKP Conference Center in midtown Manhattan the Northeast’s oldest community of green builders, architects, engineers, developers, planners, and more will gather to present a one-day conference highlighting the cutting edge and best practices in the NYC high performance building industry. Organized by the Northeast Sustainable Energy Association, BuildingEnergy NYC focuses on the sustainability, resilience, energy saving and code compliance challenges facing owners of multifamily, commercial, institutional, and small buildings while also addressing financing and budget concerns. The Northeast Sustainable Energy Association (NESEA) is dedicated to serving both experienced building practitioners, owners, architects, urban planners, and those that are new to the field. BuildingEnergy NYC was first launched as a small multifamily building efficiency conference in December 2012. The event has now expanded as a multi-disciplinary event to meet the demand of the greater NYC building & energy community, and create opportunities for networking.

One unique aspect  of this year’s event is the unveiling of NESEA’s High Performance Buildings Database, a joint project with the Net Zero Energy Coalition. The database showcases projects that qualify via participation in an eligible building performance program or by providing energy use data or an energy model as evidence of achieving zero net energy on an annual basis, plus or minus 10 percent. Each case study in the filterable database covers over 150 data points, and has been peer-reviewed by a net zero expert. Submissions are encouraged.

NESEA hopes to move the market by sharing stories of these and other outstanding projects at BuildingEnergy NYC, Oct 15th. Examples from the database will be posted in public spaces throughout the conference and a special announcement will be made by NESEA’s executive director during opening remarks.

BuildingEnergy NYC is set apart by how it is created. In just two months, 50+ acclaimed volunteer professionals, all members of NESEA, put together 24 sessions that are sure to benefit building practitioners, owners, and developers at all levels. The challenge of making New York’s buildings more efficient, sustainable and resilient can only be overcome by having practitioners from all elements of the building industry in the same space learning from and connecting to each other - a whole systems approach. BuildingEnergy NYC attracts exactly the right kind of professionals to make that happen. Learn more at: nesea.org/benyc

This year, BuildingEnergy NYC is grateful to enjoy the sponsorship of major utility companies like ConEdison, government organizations such as the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority, and non-profit organizations such as the Natural Resource Defense Fund.
