(Marketwired) - Seventh Generation, a leading mission-led household products and personal care company, has issued its Corporate Consciousness 2014 Update detailing the company's effort and progress against its 2020 aspirations and goals.

2014 highlights include:

  • Increasing the bio-based or recycled content of products and packaging to 80%

  • Reducing sales-normalized greenhouse gas emissions by 12% largely as a result of product design and material selection choices

  • Saving 154,000 trees through use of recycled materials

  • Introducing new Touch of Cloth diapers using an innovative no-bleach cotton cleaning process

  • Developing boric acid-free laundry detergents

  • Donating more than 4,000 hours of employee time to worthy organizations

  • Introducing the B Corp Quick Impact Assessment to its key suppliers to align them with B Corp's commitment to a more responsible way of doing business

In 2014 Seventh Generation's plans to accelerate its core growth through innovation, investment and the acquisition of other mission-led brands received a boost with a $30 million investment from Generation Investment Management. "I'm proud of our progress towards our audacious sustainability goals and I couldn't be more excited about the future for this company," said John Replogle, CEO of Seventh Generation. "We're able to expand the reach of our mission to more consumers, while creating positive change in the world -- a true testament to the power of a mission-led company."

Healthy products are at the heart of Seventh Generation's business and the company has played a prominent role in pursuing federal and state legislation to control toxics in consumer products. In 2014, Seventh Generation presented Congress with more than 120,000 signatures urging passage of a reformed federal toxics law. Partnering with like-minded allies led to passage of the Toxics-Free Families Act in its home state of Vermont.
