The Responsible Business Awards are back, for the fifth year, with the entry deadline on June 25th 2014 and the awards ceremony taking place on September 29th 2014 at Sheraton Park Line Hotel in London.

The Awards are a truly international affair, with last year’s winners including the likes of: SABMiller, Roshan, Unilever, Natura, Neal’s Yard Remedies, Clinton Foundation, Western Union and Vodafone.

Andy Wales from SABMiller won the head of sustainability of the year award. He noted that “we will see a move away from purely sectoral approaches to issues. You will also see a better alignment of sustainable development objectives and corporate strategy, as recognition increase that aligning two is the only way to secure long-term growth.”

Roshan, a telecommunication company in Afghanistan, won an award for their efforts in unlocking social, environmental and development challenges through use of technologies. “We’re trying to integrate technology to alleviate poverty, but in ways that are related to our core business competencies,” said Shainoor Khoja at Roshan.

The Brazilian sustainability pioneers Natura won two awards; one in supplier engagement and the second was the coveted CEO of the year award. Alessandro Carlucci, the CEO of Natura, stated in his thanking speech that “both awards are the result of the commitment of our employees, our consultants, our partners, our suppliers and all those that helped build Natura.”

This year the Responsible Business Awards provide with a great scope of opportunities for various companies to win. There’s 15 categories covering all key areas of responsible business from employee engagement, CR reporting to best business/NGO partnership and most effective community investment.

Entries are welcomed from all types of organisations: commercial, public, private, NGOs.
