SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 05 /CSRwire/ - The Taproot Foundation, a nonprofit organization that connects pro bono business talent to the nonprofit sector, is pleased to announce that it will launch on Helpouts, a new service from Google that connects people who can give help to people who need help over live video.
Taproot will use Helpouts to offer free coaching sessions to nonprofits in a variety of functional areas. “This type of one-on-one, on-demand coaching is the next frontier in pro bono,” says Alethea Hannemann, Taproot’s Director of Product and Program Development. “By connecting resources to need in a quick, convenient way, we’ll be able to vastly expand the quantity and quality of pro bono we offer.”
Since 2001, the Taproot Foundation’s programs have proven that pro bono service is a viable and reliable tool to help nonprofits to meet their full potential, while allowing business professionals to bring purpose to their work. Now in its second decade, the organization is dedicated to building an easily accessed, high-quality pro bono marketplace—one that doesn’t depend on Taproot’s capacity to set up and manage projects. “Helpouts is the ideal platform for our next generation of services,” says Hannemann.
“It’s the right tool to make the right pro bono consulting services available to nonprofits, 24/7.”
Taproot, one of the only nonprofit partners on the platform, is launching today with six pro bono coaching sessions, including expert sessions in nonprofit brand strategy, copy editing, and website analytics. “We’ll expand our offerings to meet the marketplace need,” says Hannemann.
Taproot’s mission is a great match with the mission of Helpouts: to help people help each other. Now professionals can conduct pro bono consulting sessions anywhere, anytime – sharing their knowledge and passion with nonprofits that need their expertise. Taproot is thrilled to launch on Helpouts and provide the pro bono marketplace with the interface it needs to grow and evolve in the future.
Since 2001, Taproot Foundation has proven that pro bono service is a viable and reliable tool for strengthening nonprofit organizations. Today, Taproot continues to lead nationally, and seeks to build a pro bono marketplace that, like philanthropy, is large, accessible, professional and transparent. By taking lessons learned from our award-winning Service Grant Program and applying them to our innovative new program areas, we work to stimulate the supply of pro bono resources through our corporate Advisory Services practice, as well as demand for these services by giving nonprofits the tools and training that sets them up for successful pro bono engagements. Our work has evolved to include thought leadership and international field-building, convening global leaders in the social sector to guide the design and direction of the pro bono movement while focusing on infusing a pro bono ethic into business professions, professional schools, companies and nonprofits in communities across the country and around the world.
