SOS Children's Villages - USA and Corporate Partners Raise Awareness for Orphaned Children

"SOS: Desks for a Difference" launches during National Orphan Awareness Month

WASHINGTON, Oct. 28 /CSRwire/ - SOS Children’s Villages – USA, the world’s largest non-profit organization dedicated to supporting orphaned and abandoned children, is partnering with companies across the U.S. to raise awareness about the 153 million children around the world who have lost one or both parents. Less than 1 percent of these orphaned children will ever be adopted; many of them will never know the security and love that only a family can provide.

The SOS “Desks for a Difference” cause campaign will launch this November during National Orphan Awareness Month and continue throughout 2014. SOS Children’s Villages invites companies to participate in a variety of employee engagement activities to support orphaned and abandoned children worldwide. Activities include office fundraising campaigns, social media conversations, and special events. SOS Children’s Villages is offering companies turnkey tools for customized employee engagement campaigns via their “Desks for a Difference” campaign. This platform offers a chance for employees to make a difference right from their desks.

Corporations can learn more at www.sos-usa.org/noam and individuals can pledge to get involved in the critical work of SOS Children’s Villages by joining SOS’s online campaign, #ItTakes, at http://ittakes.org.

“Our corporate partners have been sharing with us the enthusiasm and passion their employees have for the plight of these children. At their request, we have created a platform they can use to integrate give-back projects seamlessly into their workplace. Together, we can exponentially change the lives of many orphaned and abandoned children that would otherwise be left without a home and support system,” said Lynn Croneberger, Chief Executive Officer of SOS Children’s Villages – USA.

About SOS Children’s Villages: SOS Children’s Villages creates permanent, loving families for orphaned and abandoned children. We provide mothers who give individual attention and guidance to each child until they become an independent adult.

SOS Children’s Villages is the world’s largest non-profit organization supporting orphaned and abandoned children. We provide homes for children in over 500 villages across 133 countries, including the United States. Through our education, medical, family strengthening, and outreach programs, we impact the lives of over one million people each year.
