BETHESDA, Md., Oct. 16 /CSRwire/ - Savenia Labs Founder John Jabara was named Maryland Entrepreneur of the Year by the Maryland Clean Energy Center (MCEC), an award that recognizes an individual that brings new technologies, products or services to the market in Maryland. John founded Savenia in 2009 in the Bethesda Green Business Incubator, and has since revolutionized shopping with innovative energy ratings outlining appliance lifetime energy costs and environmental impacts.
"With the presentation of these awards each year we recognize a select group of individuals, companies and organizations who have demonstrated leadership, partnership, advocacy and entrepreneurism in a distinct commitment to advancing clean energy, energy efficiency and job creation," said Kathy Magruder, Executive Director of the Maryland Clean Energy Center. “Their exemplary behavior deserves to be acknowledged and we hope others will follow their lead."
“It is an honor to receive this award, and I would like to thank all the people that have helped get Savenia Labs Energy Ratings into the hands of consumers so quickly across the region,” said John Jabara, Founder of Savenia Labs. Participating retailers and enterprise customers can download energy rating labels on site, customized by zip code for energy costs and environmental impacts.
Recognized for its revolutionary Energy Rating Labels, Savenia Labs has truly changed the way people shop for appliances and electricals. By presenting easy-to-compare data on like products, shoppers can make better-informed purchasing decisions before they buy. A family using Savenia Ratings can save thousands in electricity costs over the lifetimes of the products they buy. As reductions in appliance energy use also cuts air pollution, saving energy can both save money and do a good deed for the environment.
Award winners will be recognized at the MD Clean Energy Summit on October 16th in Hyattsville, MD. The Maryland Clean Energy Center was created in 2008 to encourage the transformation of the energy economy with programs that catalyze the growth of business, increase related “green collar” jobs, and make clean energy technologies, products and services affordable, accessible, and easy to implement for Maryland residents. A committee of MCEC Advisory Board members, previous award winners and other stakeholders conducted the search for and selection of this year’s winners.
