Fashion 4 Development (F4D) is a private sector, global initiative that harnesses the power of the fashion industry to stimulate economic growth, preserve culture, empower autonomy and create sustainable futures that lift people out of poverty across the globe. Established in support of the United Nations Millennium Development Goals, F4D unites the voices of creative expression and diplomacy to raise awareness, funds to educate and provides supplementary support to talented individuals in impoverished communities, as well as brings their designs to the global marketplace.F4D

At China Fashion Night on September 6th, F4D will proudly announce its first-ever collaboration with Yue-Sai Kan & the China Beauty Charity Fund. These two organizations have come together to create a full circle program that will afford talented artists from China the opportunity to study in NYC, followed by an internship with a global brand and access to angel investment to start a business in their native land.

“I am extremely excited by the opportunity to cooperate with a luminary such as Yue-Sai Kan and her foundation to turn this program into a reality. The collaboration with China Beauty Charity Fund is a premiere program that Fashion 4 Development plans to replicate in countries around the globe,” says Evie Evangelou, Founder & President of F4D.

China Fashion Night will take place at the Pierre Hotel, where Vivienne Tam will be honored, a special haute couture fashion exhibition by Guo Pei will be presented and a performance by Hao Jiang Tian & his I Sing Beijing Ensemble will be featured. Cocktail reception is at 6:30pm, followed by dinner, performance, raffle and auction at 7:30pm. Tickets range from $1,000 to $3,000 for an individual ticket and $10,000 to $30,000 for a table. All proceeds raised from the evening will be used to benefit talented fashion students from China. For more information, please e-mail cbcfnyoffice@gmail.com or call 212-223-3277 or 646-201-8217.

China Fashion Night is one of several events where Evie Evangelou, Founder & President of F4D, will partner with distinguished designers and organizations to spotlight upcoming fashion talent and brands from around the world. Along the way, Ms. Evangelou will be honored for her leadership role in changing the way the fashion industry gives back to the global community: by implementing both creative and sustainable methods, rather than following the traditional charitable contribution format.

On September 26th, during the 68th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), Fashion 4 Development’s 3rd Annual Official First Ladies Luncheon will once again unite first ladies, diplomats, fashion industry leaders and other key influencers from around the globe. Each year, these key factions align under the umbrella of F4D’s First Ladies Luncheon to recognize and celebrate the unprecedented cooperation between diplomacy and fashion, for the greater good of women and children worldwide.

Last year’s high-level luncheon event coincided with the 67th session of the UNGA and was hosted by Ms. Evangelou and Franca Sozzani, the Editor-in-Chief of Vogue Italia and an F4D Goodwill Ambassador. Among the 360 esteemed guests were First Ladies representing 27 nations, First Lady of the United Nations Madame Ban Soon-Taek, Rebecca Minkoff, Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway, Tory Burch, Her Excellency Toyin Saraki, Tommy Hilfiger, Martha Stewart, Livia Firth and President of the Advanced Development for Africa Foundation Coumba Touré.

On October 22nd at Fashion Group International’s (FGI) Night of Stars 30th Anniversary Gala, hosted by Simon Doonan, Ms. Evangelou will receive the Humanitarian Award along with her F4D Goodwill Ambassador Franca Sozzani. Additional Star Honorees include Marc Jacobs, Robert Duffy, Alexander Wang, Angela Missoni and Christopher Kane.

On November 7th, F4D and FGI will curate an exhibit/installation of international designers to be viewed at the Ready-to-Wear Trend Presentation, which will preview spring 2014 fashion trends by FGI’s Creative Director Mary Lou Luther to a prominent, fashion industry audience.
