Tripos Software, a leading provider of sustainability management tools, online learning and employee engagement solutions, today announced that CEO and Co-founder Grant Ricketts will be the keynote speaker at the SALT Interactive Learning Technologies Conference on August 14, 2013 in Reston, VA. During his talk, Ricketts will discuss the importance for HR, Learning and Talent leaders to embrace sustainability in employee development and engagement programs in order to address business challenges and risks posed by climate change and global warming. Ricketts, a former vice president and founding member of Saba Software (NASDAQ: SABA) is a well-recognized industry expert on enterprise learning governance, talent alignment and change management and has pioneered methodologies to embed employee-led sustainability efforts deeper into business functions and talent lifecycle processes.

The talk, entitled "Learning Does Have a Second Life" will address how organizations use learning to give employees the knowledge and tools to drive sustainability initiatives and align behaviors in response to emerging market threats and opportunities. Integrating employee-led sustainability initiatives with learning and talent development processes is the strategy behind the solutions offered by Tripos Software. The company’s role-based online learning programs and engagement tools, Sustainability In Practice™ are being used by the U.S. Postal Service and other private and public sector companies to lead transformational change internally.

“Organizations are affected by a wide range of sustainability issues and need to engage their people across many different job functions to address the challenges and opportunities they face,” says Ricketts. “The SALT Conference is an ideal forum to engage HR and Learning leaders as key stakeholders who can help their organizations integrate and scale sustainability by using their clout to push sustainability training throughout the organization.”

“Sustainability is emerging as an important topic for the HR and Learning professional community. Grant’s background as a learning management professional as well as sustainability executive brings credibility to both sides of this discussion,” says John Fox, Executive Director of SALT. “We’re excited to have Grant Ricketts as the keynote speaker at our Interactive Learning Technologies Conference this August.”

Although many companies have initiated employee engagement programs around sustainability using “green teams,” competitions, volunteerism and other tactics – companies still struggle with how to integrate employee-level sustainability into their culture, decision making and operating practices. The move from Employee Engagement 1.0 to Employee Engagement 2.0 requires collaborating with HR and Talent leaders as well as integrating functional expertise and line of business operations to help companies fully realize the business, environmental and societal benefits of sustainability.
