HITnet is excited to announce their B Corp certification! HITnet is one of 12Australian companies who recently received certification and is the first company in the field of education and digital solutions to be accredited.

‘HITnet was established as a ‘profit for purpose’ company from the start. When we heard about B Corp we immediately saw the alignment with our model and the other B Corp accredited companies. We identified the potential to connect with the ever growing number of global companies that are also passionate about finding a better way to do business,’ said Julie Gibson, Co-founder of HITnet.

As a relatively new company, conducting the assessment has given HITnet further tools for establishing itself as a company that meets best practice in social and environmental performance, and good governance. 

‘Going through the accreditation process was a great exercise. It helped us to identify gaps and opportunities and to tighten up the way we do business,’ says Julie. ‘I would recommend it to every Australian company wanting to fine tune their business so that it has greater social impact.’

HITnet’s purpose is to enable equality by eliminating the digital divide that exists for indigenous communities across the globe. By providing educational resources using the latest and most appropriate technology platforms on offer, HITnet helps solve social problems in communities that are difficult to reach and resource.

HITnet uses creative community production processes to work with people at the grass roots to produce the digital stories that carry key social health messages, using local language, storylines, music and actors. These productions provide real jobs and skill acquisition for communities marginalized by geography, culture and disadvantage.

HITnet’s vision is to provide technology based Community Hubs in every indigenous community across the globe, starting with Australia, where they already have 70 Community Hubs in operation.  The B Corp accreditation is expected to provide them with opportunities to connect with other B Corp companies and global investors to support them in achieving their vision.
