Green Spaces, the US’ go-to shared workspace and events venue for green business, social entrepreneurship and innovation, hosted its five-year anniversary last night in New York, NY and Denver, CO.

“Since before the term ‘coworking’ was coined, we’ve been working to support social enterprise,” said Green Spaces Founder Jennie Nevin. “We’re thrilled to see how well this movement is growing. These environmentally conscious and collaborative consumption principles are at the core of this mainstream movement. People want to create community and connect with one another.”

In honor of their five-year anniversary, Green Spaces announced it is launching the “New Innovator Matching Challenge”.

“For the next 30 days, for every new person that joins Green Spaces, our company will match their membership^* by giving membership to a ‘new innovator’,” said Green Spaces co-founder Marissa Feinberg. “To qualify, ‘new innovators’ must be pre-revenue, have a solid business plan, and must have finished an undergraduate or graduate-degree program within the past five years. Social innovation is growing exponentially. It’s difficult to keep up with the number of new social ventures, and we want to support them as best we can.”

Green Spaces also discussed its plans for the future. Recognizing people are seeking a more innovative way to work as the number of coworking spaces has been doubling in size each year globally, according to DeskMag.

“For the past five years, we’ve scaled slowly, working hard to cultivate and become excellent at supporting the social enterprise community. Now, we are ready and excited to grow and further support the movements we intersect: social enterprise, environment, collaborative consumption, and the triple bottom line,” said the co-founders in each respective location.
