The Center for Sustainability at Saint Louis University is proud to announce that GRI Training Partners ISOS Group and BrownFlynn will be returning to the Saint Louis University campus to provide certified training in sustainability reporting using the GRI Framework April 18-19, 2013.

The Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) is the world's leading framework for sustainability reporting. The GRI Sustainability Reporting Framework can assist you and/or your organization in developing a systematic approach to corporate responsibility and sustainability reporting. This two-day training course will help you prepare to effectively manage and report sustainability performance using the GRI Framework.

Program Takeaway

Participants will learn how to manage the sustainability reporting process using the Global Reporting Initiative’s third-generation (G3 and G3.1) Sustainability Reporting Framework, supplemental GRI reporting publications and sustainability reports from leading organizations as case studies. As the world gears up for the release of the G4 guidelines, participants will be briefed on implications of the proposed changes.

Who Should Attend

This two-day GRI-certified training is designed to encourage participation among a diverse group of professionals looking to enhance their skill sets, such as for-profit and non-profit managers in charge of sustainability activities as well as sustainability consultants and graduate students. GRI is a framework suitable for organizations of all sizes, from all sectors, featuring sector specific metrics that organizations can flexibly adapt to communicate performance in key sustainability areas.

Approach to Training

The course is taught by working sustainability reporting professionals with in-depth knowledge of the GRI Reporting Framework and decades of experience managing enterprise-level reporting projects across a variety of sectors. A blend of instruction, individual and group exercises, sustainability case studies and special guest presentations from local reporting organizations keeps the course engaging and lively.

Pre-Requisites

It is not necessary to have worked on a report previously and there are no pre-requisites.

  • Benefits and challenges of reporting
  • Stakeholder identification, role, prioritization, and engagement
  • The GRI materiality principle and indicator selection
  • Connecting report content and monitoring with policies and goals
  • Quality assurance and application levels
  • Communicating results
