AECOM Technology Corporation, a leading provider of professional technical and management support services for public and private clients in more than 140 countries around the world, announced today that four AECOM young professionals have been honored in the 2013 “New Faces of Engineering” competition by the U.S. National Engineers Week Foundation.  AECOM employees Andrew T. Hable, Paul St. Aubyn, Justin Vandever and Ashley Vesperman were recognized for their professional accomplishments and the positive societal impacts they have achieved before reaching the age of 30 years old.

Andrew T. Hable, a civil engineer in Chicago, was named a finalist by the American Society of Civil Engineers.  Hable has worked on a variety of international projects and is passionate about using his engineering background to focus on international development and contribute to developing countries.  He has also served as an environmental specialist with the Peace Corps, where he worked to implement a community’s first safe drinking water system in rural Panama.  Hable is now preparing for an upcoming trip to Kenya, where he plans to continue his commitment to serving others through utilizing engineering as an unwavering way of life.

Paul St. Aubyn, an environmental engineer in Chicago, was named a finalist by the National Society of Professional Engineers.  Aubyn has been involved in the designing, planning and building of water treatment plants and potable water distribution systems for over four years.  He is currently volunteering his time to help design and engineer a new parking lot and drainage system for a non-profit school located in one of Chicago’s most disadvantaged neighborhoods.  Outside of AECOM, Aubyn is highly involved in his community, including actively participating in his local church’s “Intersection Café,” where guests from the local neighborhood and surrounding community, many of whom stay at a local homeless shelter, are invited to share a meal together.

Justin Vandever, a coastal engineer in Oakland, Calif., was named a finalist by the American Society of Civil Engineers.  At AECOM, Vandever works to apply his in-depth knowledge of coastal systems to solving real-world problems, such as developing climate, coastal and sea-level rise adaptation solutions and designing tidal wetlands for the largest restoration effort on the West Coast.  Vandever is also very active in volunteering efforts in the San Francisco Bay area, including participating in beach cleanups and developing a daily blog to share his knowledge about California’s beaches.

Ashley Vesperman, a transportation engineer in Middleton, Wis., was named a finalist by the American Council of Engineering Companies.  Through her years at AECOM, Vesperman has helped to provide solutions that will minimize impacts to the environment and community.  She is actively involved in the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) and is the ITE’s hospitality committee chair for the upcoming 2013 Midwestern District ITE Conference.  In her free time, Vesperman enjoys volunteering with various organizations such as the Humane Society, American Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity, local food banks, and aging and disability resource centers, as well as working to organize events to benefit families in need, homeless shelters and local charities.
