This April, IBM, Merck, PepsiCo, SAP and others will share how volunteering is building their future leaders by enabling them to play a constructive role in some of the most critical issues of our time, including food security, clean water and economic empowerment. Hosted by CDC Development Solutions in Washington, D.C., the 4^th Annual International Corporate Volunteerism Conference is a thought-leading forum that annually convenes leaders, change-makers and professionals from multiple sectors, including social entrepreneurship, corporate responsibility, government, international development and leadership training.

International Corporate Volunteerism (ICV), a relatively new practice among leading corporations, involves sending teams of employees to volunteer their professional skills for local governments, social enterprises, educational institutions and nonprofits in emerging and dynamic markets around the world. The conference is tailored to leaders in corporate, government and nonprofit sectors interested in discussing global pro bono strategies that impact areas such as business innovation, private-public partnerships, ROI, employee engagement. Several sessions will also concentrate on the leadership development opportunities ICV programs provide for top talent of multinational companies.

Recognized by The Financial Times as one of the world’s top 20 business school leaders and among the “25 Stars of Europe” by Businessweek, Dr. Ángel Cabrera will deliver the conference’s closing keynote address. Dr. Cabrera is President of George Mason University, which was named the number one Up-and-Coming University to Watch by 2012 U.S. News & World Report. Dr. Cabrera will speak about his recent book, Being Global, How to Think, Act, and Lead in a Transformed World, and will share his highly sought after perspective on global leadership, exploring the central themes laid out in his book with respect to ICV – global mindset, global entrepreneurship and global citizenship. “Truly global leaders act as bridge builders, connectors of resources and talent across cultural and political boundaries,” said Dr. Cabrera recently in the Harvard Business Review. “They don’t just think global—they are global.” The conference will feature successful programs, key global development challenges, inspiring stories of impact and what it takes to be a global leader.
