The Board of Directors of the Electronic Industry Citizenship Coalition^® (EICC^®) announced the appointment of Mr. Robert Lederer, Jr. as the organization’s first Executive Director. In this position, Lederer will provide strategic leadership, have oversight to the EICC’s initiatives, and manage the operations.

“The EICC has grown over 50 percent since 2007 and now includes members from all segments of the electronics supply chain, requiring a new approach to meeting organizational, membership, and stakeholder needs,” said John Gabriel, Immediate Past Chairman and Chairman of the search committee. “To support our evolution, the EICC initiated a governance review resulting in Rob’s hiring. Rob is a talented leader with deep experience and wisdom in leading associations such as the EICC. I know he will be a tremendous Executive Director to help the EICC fulfill its potential going forward.”

Lederer’s selection comes at a critical time; the EICC now is addressing human rights and environmental concerns even further upstream in the supply chain than ever before, and the organization’s expanded activities require the additional leadership this position offers. Lederer and the EICC staff will enhance the EICC’s ability to deliver support to its members, have a greater external voice, formalize relationships with stakeholders, and enable member volunteers to focus on the content, direction and strategy for the EICC’s many initiatives.

Lederer brings over three decades of experience managing industry associations, helping them to achieve strategic and growth objectives. Additionally, he was mayor of Fairfax, Virginia, USA, for ten years providing leadership and vision to the city. During his tenure, Fairfax achieved the honor of “Third Most Livable City in the United States” by Forbes and maintained its AAA bond rating.

The EICC members also elected a new board of directors and new Chairman to shape the three-year strategy for the EICC. The board is made up of senior leaders from companies across the electronics supply chain. Tim Mohin, incoming Chairman, is the Director of Corporate Responsibility at Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) in Austin, Texas, USA. The new board includes:
