The Conscious Collections by Teens Turning Green

February 4. Student led non-profit Teens Turning Green (TTG) is launching an innovative and expansive initiative called The Conscious Collections, which highlights thoughtfully curated, ethically-produced products across many lifestyle categories. Product selections are based on health of ingredients, environmental impact, efficacy, and verified standards like USDA Certified Organic, non-GMO, Fair Trade, and data from the Environmental Working Group, among other industry and research leaders.

“This initiative is our offering – a simple, fun way to spread the word about thoughtful product choices that help to heal the planet. The Collections cover all aspects of life, for all demographics,” said Judi Shils, Executive Director, Teens Turning Green.

Phase one launches with The Conscious Collections: Care Packages, a monthly assortment of items for college students. The themed selection of products tie into school and seasonal events like Back to School, Halloween, Valentine's Day, Earth Day, Graduation, Holidays, etc. The collections will be for sale on theconsciouscollections.com. Launch date: February 4.

Themed for Valentine’s Day, the inaugural Mind Body Heart collection will be available to the first 50 donors for $50 each (valued at $150+). All proceeds support the TTG 2013 Summer Internship Program. Check out this TTG Pinterest board to view the Mind Body Heart Collection prior to the 2/4 web launch.

Products include: Acure Organics Rose and Red Tea Toner, Apple&Bee Organic Cotton Make Up Bag, Aubrey Organics Organic Lip Balm and Natural Lips Sheer Tint, Desert Essence Red Raspberry Shampoo & Conditioner, Dr. Bronner’s Rose Soap Bar, ecojot Passion for Life Journal, Guayaki Yerba Mate Energy Shots, John Masters Organics Bearberry Skin Balancing Face Wash, Alicia Silverstone for Juice Beauty Simply Nourishing Moisturizer, Kopali Organics Chocolate Cacao Nibs, Lotus Moon On the Go Hair Care Kit, and Swisspers Organic Balls, Tips, and Rounds.

Raychel Santo, a junior at Johns Hopkins University and Teens Turning Green Advisory Board member, notes the importance of mindful consumption in an eco-friendly life. “We all purchase at least some products in our daily lives. This initiative will help us make those purchases the best they can be!”

The Conscious Collections and display will be part of the TTG Conscious College Road Tour, stopping at twelve college campuses between March and May. Visit teensturninggreen.org for more information about 2013 programs, ongoing initiatives, and how to become involved.
