MillerCoors is kicking off a month-long volunteer effort to protect its most essential ingredient: water. In partnership with American Rivers and local nonprofit groups in its operating communities, MillerCoors employees and distributors will participate in volunteer efforts nationwide.

“As a brewer, water is a fundamental part of our business, and we have a responsibility to do our part in protecting our water resources within the communities we serve,” said MillerCoors Chief Executive Officer Tom Long. “MillerCoors has made water stewardship a top priority and each September we roll-up our sleeves and volunteer to make an impact with our communities and customers.”

Officially dubbed “Great Water Month,” the brewer’s largest annual volunteer event brings together thousands of employees from across the country to work toward a common goal: water stewardship. Throughout the month of September, volunteer events will take place in nearly two dozen communities where MillerCoors operates. To activate consumers in Great Water Month efforts, fans of MillerCoors on Facebook can pledge to make a small change in their daily routine to save water. Additionally, MillerCoors will hold its first “Twitterview” on sustainability in partnership with Mother Nature Network on September 19.
