ORMSTOWN, Q.C., Aug. 16 /CSRwire/ - LEAD Canada, the Canadian affiliate of Leadership for Environment and Development International, is now accepting registrations for its renewed professional development program for people interested in leadership training within the challenging sphere of sustainable development. The first session for Cohort 17 will commence in late October 2012 with the choice of an eastern Canadian session in the Ottawa-Gatineau region or a western Canadian session in late January 2012 in Regina, Saskatchewan.
The renewed program now includes an online component and greater flexibility in the face-to-face sessions to better accommodate the busy schedule of professionals and reduce travel costs. The program also includes a 'challenge' component to help link leadership skills to real sustainability situations.
LEAD Canada is a not-for-profit corporation, dedicated to furthering the goals of environmental, social and economic sustainability through training, projects and networking. Established in 1994, LEAD Canada joined the global network set up by LEAD International, now celebrating its 20th year as an innovator and leader in training with regard to sustainable development.
This professional development program is a unique opportunity. LEAD training is available to professionals from any sector and participants will be selected to reflect our cross-sectoral and cross-cultural approach. Applicants who are accepted into the program will begin a learning journey that culminates in becoming a LEAD Fellow, at which point they will join the network of over 2,400 LEAD colleagues in over 90 countries, worldwide.
Over the course of the entire training program, participants will enhance their knowledge and understanding about how to tackle the challenges inherent in sustainable development while honing skills to be able to think differently, communicate effectively and engage with the aim of mutual gain (‘win-win’ scenarios). Participants will acquire a set of tools that can be applied with regard to sustainability issues in public, business, government, NGO and academic settings.
Deadline for applications is Friday, August 31st, 2012.
