Dr. Thomas Scheiwiller, a leading expert in sustainability and corporate responsibility, joined AccountAbility on June 1 as Director and Global Head of Clients and Industries, AccountAbility CEO Sunny Misser announced. Dr. Scheiwiller will be expanding the organization’s advisory services portfolio and lending his expertise in sustainability, compliance, governance, risk management, and integrated reporting to the Fortune 500, multilateral organizations and leading NGOs.
“Thomas is a key addition to our impressive senior leadership team,” Misser said. “In addition to contributing his thought leadership to our research and standards agendas, he will bring to clients his practical expertise on how to solve complex business and sustainability challenges.”
Dr. Scheiwiller has more than 10 years of experience as a Partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he held a variety of roles, including Global Managing Partner of Sustainability Advisory Services worldwide. He focused on integrated reporting, governance, risk, compliance and integrity services primarily for clients in the pharmaceutical, consumer goods, and financial services sectors. For five of those years, Dr. Scheiwiller also served as PwC’s global lead Partner for Nestlé.
Dr. Scheiwiller’s leadership in sustainability extends beyond his advisory work. He is a chairman and member of several accounting and sustainability reporting organizations. He currently serves as a board member of Swiss-based Sosense, which supports social entrepreneurs, as well as Sanu, which is the Swiss foundation for environmental education. Dr. Scheiwiller is also a member of the Steering Committee of the European Business & Biodiversity platform and has previously been a board member of the Sustainability Forum Zurich. He was a co-founder of the Swiss Award for Best Sustainability Report.
After earning a diploma and a PhD in physics from the Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich, Dr. Scheiwiller started his career as an environmental consultant. He speaks four languages.
“It’s a natural next step for me to join an organization whose mission is mainstreaming sustainability in the corporate world,” Dr. Scheiwiller said. “I’m looking forward to working with AccountAbility’s impressive roster of clients and lending my experience to the standards and research practices.”
