Sustainable Brands today commenced its sixth annual Sustainable Brands Conference at Paradise Point Resort & Spa in San Diego, bringing together a record-breaking number of sustainability, brand and innovation leaders engaging in conversation set in motion by more than 180 of the world’s leading thinkers and practitioners of sustainability and social innovation. This year, the conference theme “The Revolution Will Be Branded” focuses on the role brands can and will play in driving the sustainability revolution forward.

“In 2012 the Sustainable Brands community has moved from a community of learning to one of action, focusing on advancing three primary initiatives,” said KoAnn Vikoren Skrzyniarz, Founder and Chief Executive of Sustainable Brands. “These include driving consumer demand in more sustainable products, spurring disruptive (vs. incremental) innovation and continuing to press the business case for migration to sustainable brands. We are proud to have brought together a record-setting number of sustainability leaders to collaborate and learn how to propel the sustainable brand revolution forward towards a flourishing future for all.”

Several organizations debuted new initiatives at the conference aimed at helping drive the Sustainable Brands community forward. Futerra, an international sustainability communications agency, announced the launch of Planet Brands – an index designed to catalyze the world’s biggest brands to lead on encouraging sustainable behavior. NBC Universal officially launched its “One Small Act” iPhone App, which allows users to set sustainability goals, track their progress and celebrate achievements with friends. On the literary front, Lance Hosey’s book The Shape of Green: Aesthetics, Ecology, and Design was released at the conference.

Free SB’12 Conference Live Stream

For the first time, Sustainable Brands also announced it will offer free access to 3 full days of live stream broadcast from the conference for those unable to attend. After registering, live stream viewers will receive access to the live simulcast of conference plenary sessions and one of the 6 breakout streams. The conference opening night session will be broadcast on June 4th, beginning at 5pm, and the conference will stream live each day between 9:00 a.m. and 5 p.m. PST.  Interested viewers can learn more at sb12.co.

Sustainable Brands London

Building on the success of six years of North American events and in response to the international community’s mounting sustainability interest, Sustainable Brands also announced plans to expand to the European theater with Sustainable Brands London, set to take place at The Mermaid Conference & Events Centre November 27-28, 2012. This landmark event for the United Kingdom and Europe marks a new chapter in the history of Sustainable Brands as it prepares to facilitate face-to-face connections for the first time outside of the US, linking boardroom thought-leaders, brand strategists and sustainability executives from organizations across the continent.
