Furthering their commitment towards making the earth a better place to live and work, Anvil Knitwear has signed on to become a sponsor of Shop Your Values Week.

SYVW is a citywide “do good” event presented by ethikus encouraging consumers to shop with their hearts in 2012 by pledging to shop locally, ethically, and sustainably. Over 200 local and sustainable businesses have signed on to participate in SYVW by offering incentives to anyone who takes the online pledge (www.shopyourvaluesweek.com). These incentives range from free samples and storewide discounts, to free admission to special events across NYC.

“We’re excited to have Anvil Knitwear on board with SYVW,” said Jeff Hittner, Co-founder of ethikus. “Whether it's creating programs for kids to track the journey of their t-shirts from cotton farm to their homes, or building an eco clothing line that includes shirts made from recycled plastic bottles and organic cotton, Anvil is actively working to build a more sustainable business for all involved.”

Anvil Knitwear has generously donated 750 Sustainable shirts (see image) to ethikus in support of the SYVW movement. Anvil Knitwears Sustainability line contains around 3 plastic bottles per shirt, are made up of 50% organic combed ring spun cotton, and 50% post-consumer P.E.T recycled polyester.

“Anvil is excited to align with Shop Your Values Week, promoting sustainable businesses in our New York City community”, says Heather Stefani, EVP of Marketing at Anvil Knitwear.  “As a brand that operates with a deep and continued commitment to respecting the environment, we understand the challenges businesses face in their efforts to be sustainable. It’s therefore important to support others doing right by our planet. We salute the team at Shop Your Values Week for their continued work at pushing this message.”

Ethikus team members will be scattered across the greater NYC area handing out these sustainable shirts during SYVW (May 3rd-10th) – encouraging people to take the online pledge, upload photos of them in their new sustainable SYVW swag to fb.me/ethikus, and remember to shop with their hearts.
