Shop Your Values Week announced today that it will host a “Shop Your Values Week Bard MBA in Sustainability Scholarship” competition from April 19th,2012 – June 15th, 2012. The competition will be held on Shop Your Values Week’s website located at http://syvw.us/bardmba. The winner of the competition will receive a scholarship for up to $20,000 towards tuition for Bard College’s, low-residency MBA in Sustainability, based in NYC.

“We believe business can have a hugely positive influence on our communities and the environment,” said Jeff Hittner, Co-founder and CEO of ethikus. “The Bard MBA in Sustainability helps to accelerate this movement from ‘business as usual’ to ‘business for good’ and being able to offer a scholarship in support of it, fits squarely within Shop Your Values Week’s goals for positive social change.”

The Shop Your Values Week Bard MBA in Sustainability Scholarship is based on academic merit and the candidate’s ability to live their values in all spheres of their life. The scholarship award starts at $1,000 and will be increased by $25, up to a maximum value of $20,000 for the two-year program1, for every person that shares on Facebook or tweets “I just added $25 to the Bard MBA in Sustainability Scholarship for #SYVW! http://syvw.us/bardmba” on Twitter

In order to be considered for the scholarship, candidates must submit the following:

Scholarship finalists will include those who are accepted into the MBA program for Fall 2012, and who submit their video. The scholarship will be awarded to a candidate from this pool by a selection committee including representatives from the Bard MBA and Shop Your Values Week.

1 To be awarded in equal amounts each year, eg, $10,000 in the first year of study, and $10,000 in the second year, for a student enrolled full-time in the program.

About the Bard MBA in Sustainability
The Bard MBA is one of a handful of programs around the world that focus on the business case for sustainability, integrating economic, environmental, and social objectives to create successful businesses that build a more sustainable world. The low-residency program, based in New York City, is structured around monthly weekend intensives. Classes take place over four days, beginning Friday morning and ending Monday afternoon. Students also attend online classes Tuesday and Thursday evenings during the semester. The program provides a rigorous education in core business principles, as well as sustainable business practices, with a focus throughout on economics, environment, and social equity. Graduates of the Bard MBA program will transform existing companies, start their own, and pioneer new ways of doing business that will meet human needs while protecting and restoring the earth’s natural systems.
