TreeLink, the nonprofit urban forestry organization, along with its website and iTreeBank program, is becoming part of the national nonprofit organization, Alliance for Community Trees.

"TreeLink and iTreeBank will continue a mission to raise awareness and enable support for healthy urban and community forests everywhere," said Ray Tretheway, current chair of the boards of both TreeLink and ACTrees.  "Alliance for Community Trees is ideally positioned to build on the success of TreeLink and iTreeBank.”

Alliance for Community Trees (ACTrees), incorporated in 1993 as an alliance of community-based urban forestry groups, is a coalition of over 200 member organizations involved in grassroots community greening, public education and policymaking.

"We are thrilled to support and expand the remarkable resources developed by the leadership of TreeLink and the members of iTreeBank.   These individuals and organizations bring vision, energy and passion to the greater urban and community forestry cause," said Carrie Gallagher, executive director of ACTrees. "They offer ACTrees and its current network an enormous opportunity to better serve the people and the trees in urban and community forests."

TreeLink and ACTrees originated from many of the same founding members. "Our goals fit together to improve long-term impact," said Pepper Provenzano, TreeLink founder and a founding Board member of ACTrees.  "Since its inception in 1996, TreeLink was designed to compliment a larger organization in support of local urban forests.  It’s the right time to make this move to ACTrees.”

In the coming months the websites of TreeLink.org and iTreeBank.org will merge with an updated, reformatted ACTrees.org website.  The new ACTrees website will incorporate the benefits and resources the TreeLink websites.

About TreeLink and iTreeBank

The TreeLink website at www.TreeLink.org was created to inform, educate and inspire interest in urban forests. Reaching visitors from more than 100 countries, it was established as a web-based information clearinghouse with support from the Department of Agriculture at the recommendation of The National Urban and Community Forestry Advisory Council, and a grant from the George S. and Dolores Dore Eccles Foundation.

iTreeBank is a program of TreeLink that enables any community to develop a fund for tree planting, care and education. iTreeBank currently serves more than 70 organizations and will continue services through ACTrees and its partnership with another nonprofit organization, Network for Good.
