Varicent, an industry-leader in incentive compensation and sales performance management solutions announced today that it has  launched a formal corporate social responsibility (CSR) program in partnership with EF (Entrepreneurs Foundation).  Varicent developed its CSR program to align with the company’s core competencies in technology, while resonating with the philanthropic aspirations of its global employees.  Varicent’s CSR is focused on youth development and education with an emphasis on empowerment through technology.  In demonstration of Varicent’s commitment to this cause, the company has approved a corporate budget of $100,000 and has allocated 220 corporate-sponsored volunteer days (one day per employee) for 2012.

In support of its philanthropic mission, Varicent has launched several partnerships together with:

  • The Toronto Foundation for Student Success (TFSS) www.studentsuccess.ca contributing a $10,000 grant  to develop an after-school workshop within its Beyond 3:30 after-school program benefiting 13 TFSS middle school locations throughout the Greater Toronto Area.
  • Computer Aid International www.computeraid.org based in the United Kingdom.  In addition to a $10,000 donation towards the creation of 4 computer labs for schools in need, the UK-based Varicent team will be contributing volunteer time to refurbish equipment at Computer Aid International’s London offices.

Varicent has also launched “Varicent Gives!”, an employee charity portal allowing employees to financially contribute to key Varicent community partners, as well as to causes of their choosing, while enabling the company to run matching-gift campaigns online.

The company informally launched its community programs in the fall of 2011, through participation in Movember www.movember.com, from which $6,000 was raised towards prostate cancer prevention.  Varicent employees have also participated in disaster relief efforts around the world as well as supported the Second Harvest Food Bank through the annual Turkey and Food Drive.

“While Varicent employees have championed various charitable events in the past, there has always been a desire to better focus our collective energies to affect even greater change within our communities,” said Dan Shimmerman, President and CEO, Varicent. “With the introduction of our social responsibility program along with key charitable partners, I believe that we now have the right mix of vision, organization and enthusiasm to carry out the Varicent Foundation’s mission of youth development and education through technology.  My personal goal is to encourage every Varicent employee to volunteer and participate in charitable endeavors so that they in turn can serve as an inspiration to others to participate in philanthropy.”

Varicent, in partnership with EF, has been able to help shape the overall mission, vision and strategy for Varicent’s corporate social responsibility program.  Together, Varicent and EF will team to implement the goals and execute the vision of their programs, while focusing on maximum community impact.

“Varicent has given great thought to the development and roll out of their CSR program,” said Diane Solinger, Executive Director, EF. “As an emerging technology leader, Varicent is exemplary in the design and execution of this vision to inspire and help youth through technology, math and science as well as engaging employees in all ways of giving; both volunteering and financial.  Varicent is not only a leader in its market but also in community investment. “
