VANCOUVER, B.C., Jan. 31 /CSRwire/ - With public hearings currently underway for the proposed Northern Gateway pipeline project and the US’s recent rejection of TransCanada’s Keystone XL pipeline and several electricity projects underway across the country, the challenges of developing the pipeline and electricity infrastructure to support Canada’s energy resources have never been more apparent. In recognition of this, GLOBE 2012, being held March 14-16, 2012 in Vancouver, Canada, has added a special session on Energy Infrastructure: The Environment and Economy Debate.
“Energy infrastructure will determine if Canada can fully tap into the potential of its natural resources and reach international markets,” says John Wiebe, President and CEO of the GLOBE Foundation. “Successfully developing this infrastructure calls for a deep understanding of how to protect sensitive ecosystems and the interests of Aboriginal communities.”
