The Trust for Public Land today announced it has joined forces with CBS’s EcoMedia to provide advertisers participating in EcoMedia’s EcoAd program with the ability to support critical conservation and park projects that remain underfunded.

Through this new partnership, the Trust – as the nation’s leading nonprofit organization creating parks in cities across the country – will collaborate with EcoMedia to identify projects that could most benefit from receiving advertising dollars via EcoMedia’s EcoAd program. Such projects may include the funding of new urban parks, fitness zones and open spaces to be developed for public enjoyment.

“We’re really looking forward to working with the EcoAd program,” said TPL President Will Rogers. “This partnership is a win-win for everyone. It will help provide support for creating and building more parks, playgrounds and open space around the country, and it will also provide an opportunity for advertisers to invest in their communities.”

EcoMedia was founded in 2002 with a core mission of creating positive social change. The company was acquired by CBS in May 2010. The EcoAd program, which directs a portion of advertising revenues to provide critical funding for conservation projects in communities across the nation, was launched in January 2011. Within just eight months, the program has provided funding for a variety of projects, including solar installations and energy efficiency improvements for public schools and community centers; sustainable landscaping and green infrastructure improvements for public parks; and tree plantings and natural habitat restoration initiatives in open public spaces.

“Every year, corporations spend hundreds of billions of dollars advertising to the American public. At EcoMedia, we want viewers to expect and demand more from the advertising they watch, read and listen to. The purpose of our EcoAd program is to reward consumers more fully for their time and attention by directing funding to environmental projects in their communities,” explained Paul Polizzotto, President of EcoMedia-CBS. “This new partnership with the Trust for Public Land fulfills our mission to create jobs, save taxpayer money and improve the quality of life by supporting parks and green spaces which are a vital part of healthy communities.”

About CBS EcoMedia Inc.

At EcoMedia, we're propelled by the desire to create positive social change; that's been our mission since we founded the company in 2002. Our premise? That the billions of dollars spent annually in advertising represent a tremendous reservoir of untapped resources – resources that should be directed toward bricks-and-mortar projects which benefit local communities. We develop and nurture a wide-ranging network of partnerships with municipal governments and NGOs nationwide, and connect them with corporations eager to improve the quality of life in the communities they serve.

The result is our EcoAd program, a profoundly innovative twist on traditional advertising, which we have protected through a robust patent portfolio development program. Through our proprietary service, we are able to efficiently redirect a portion of every EcoAd-branded media buy to a local community, where it funds a much-needed environmental project, including a solar installation on a community center (San Francisco), a refurbished park and playground for kids with special needs (Arlington, Texas) and an elementary school solar learning area (Boston suburbs).

In 2008, after successfully partnering with CBS on a wide-range of projects including an energy efficiency retrofit and solar power installation at Miami City Hall, a green makeover for public schools in San Francisco, Miami and Cook County, Ill., and a solar panel installation at California's Long Beach airport, we were proud to become the newest addition to the CBS Corporation portfolio, exponentially scaling our reach across television, radio, interactive, publishing and outdoor media.

The EcoAd program aims to create jobs, save taxpayer money and improve the environment. In the process, we're fundamentally altering the advertising landscape, elevating the ordinary commercial – and green media, in general – into a catalyst for real, quantifiable, and measurable change.

At CBS EcoMedia Inc., we have a vision: To harness the power of advertising and channel it into tangible social change.

Since the founding of the company in 2001, our team has worked tirelessly to develop and hone an advertising model that would transform this ideal into reality.

It was with great pride that in 2011 and 2012, we launched our EcoAd, WellnessAd, and EducationAd programs. These unique product offerings are based on our patent-pending ad model through which our clients, in collaboration with our wide network of non-profit partners, provide financial support for critical, yet underfunded, environmental, health, and education projects in communities nationwide.
