/PR Newswire/ - At the National Press Club, Tuesday, August 30 at 8 AM, the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patron (ALMS) will present its relationship with the U.S. DOE and EPA and its role as proving ground for auto and tire manufacturers to test advanced technologies in a race to achieve future national requirements for transportation efficiency, sustainability and energy security.

What:

American Le Mans Series (ALMS) with partners DOE, EPA and industry, will describe its world leadership position in "Green Racing." For auto and tire manufacturers, Green Racing is a competitive platform developed by the ALMS-government partnership, whereby manufacturers competitively test technologies and products that can contribute to more efficient and sustainable transportation solutions. Green Racing provides a platform in what is the harshest real-world proving ground: long distance automobile racing. Today, ten auto manufacturers and four tire manufacturers use this platform to demonstrate engineering, performance and efficiency advances.

Since 2008, ALMS has claimed global leadership in Green Racing, embracing alternative fuels such as E85, E20 blended with iso-butanol, E10 and GTL ultra-clean diesel. ALMS has also embraced alternative power train solutions such as electric hybrid and flywheel hybrid race vehicles. Uniquely in all of motorsport, ALMS has also embraced DOE and EPA standards for green racing that have been incorporated into the MICHELIN® GREEN X Challenge, which rewards teams and manufacturers for racing farthest, fastest and most efficiently, while producing the least greenhouse gas emissions.
