COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., Aug. 04 /CSRwire/ - When sustainable and responsible investing leaders gather October 2-5, 2011 in New Orleans at the SRI in the Rockies conference, they will hear the latest from experts about some of the most rapidly emerging topics in the world of SRI, including fracking, conflict minerals and food safety.

The agenda for the 2011 SRI in the Rockies, the world's largest and longest running conference for the sustainable and responsible investing (SRI) industry, is now online at http://sriintherockies.com/2011/agenda.jsp.

New topics to be included in the 22nd version of the annual conference include:

  • Hydraulic fracturing (also known as "fracking"), the practice of breaking up underground shale formations to release natural gas. Panelists will discuss the risks, and the implications for water quality, human, and environmental health. Ultimately, what are the risks and opportunities for investors?

  • Conflict minerals and how to weigh the exponential increase in global demand for minerals used in electronics with the illicit production and trade of key minerals that finances a number of armed groups in the civil war in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

  • Food safety and nutrition has also made it onto the SRI in the Rockies Conference agenda for the first time this year. Its presence reflects the growing involvement of governmental entities around health and healthcare issues of the nation's obesity epidemic. Food companies are increasingly coming under scrutiny and governmental regulation. Are their products part of the problem or part of the solution? What are the liabilities that conglomerate food companies will increasingly face, and what products and companies are addressing these issues?

Steve Schueth, President, First Affirmative Financial Network and lead organizer of SRI in the Rockies said: "The responsible investment industry is very dynamic. Socially conscious investors and analysts are often ahead of the traditional investment community in recognizing both risks and opportunities in the marketplace. As the SRI industry's leading edge forum in North America, we are pleased to present an agenda that identifies cutting edge issues for all investors."

Investors and investment professionals can register for the conference at "http://www.SRIintheRockies.com/register.jsp. The agenda is available at http://sriintherockies.com/2011/agenda.jsp.
