/PRNewswire/ - KeyBank's Tiedeman Campus in Cleveland has earned the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's ENERGY STAR certification, which signifies that the buildings perform in the top 25 percent of similar facilities nationwide for energy efficiency and meet strict energy efficiency performance levels set by the EPA.

"KeyBank is very pleased at this recognition of our energy efficiency efforts," said Peter Hemme, EVP, Director Real Estate Solutions. "These efforts are part of our broader commitment to sustainability and green practices, a commitment that demonstrates the many ways we help our communities thrive. Energy efficiency aligns with our strategy of making socially responsible investments in the future of our planet."

Commercial buildings with ENERGY STAR certification use an average of 35 percent less energy than other buildings and release 35 percent less carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. With this program, KeyBank has prevented greenhouse gas emissions equal to the electricity use from 363 households for a year or 1016 tons worth of recycled waste that did not go to landfills.

KeyBank's Real Estate Solutions developed its energy savings program through strategic partnerships with Green Concepts International LLC, and Johnson Controls.
