Time Warner Cable received a Silver Anvil Award of Excellence, from the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA). The Award of Excellence, which recognizes outstanding strategic public relations planning and implementation, was presented to Tessie Topol, Senior Director, Strategic Philanthropy during the Silver Anvil Awards Ceremony held June 9 in New York City.

Time Warner Cable received the 2011 Silver Anvil Award of Excellence for its initiative Connect a Million Minds in the Community Relations category. Time Warner Cable's Connect a Million Minds (CAMM) is a five-year, $100 million cash and in-kind philanthropic initiative to address America's declining proficiency in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), which puts our children at risk of not competing successfully in a global economy. More information on Connect a Million Minds can be found at www.connectamillionminds.com.

"The Award of Excellence recognizes top public relations programs in our industry," said James J. Roop, APR, Fellow PRSA, 2011 Awards and Honors Committee chair and president of Roop & Co., Cleveland, Ohio. "To receive an Award of Excellence, programs must be of Silver Anvil caliber and represent some of the finest strategic and creative thinking in our profession."

The Silver Anvil Awards program has grown in scope and stature since its inception in 1946, and awards are now given in 59 categories and subcategories. In the 60-plus-year history of the Silver Anvils, many organizations have been recognized, including solo practitioners, agencies of all sizes, large and small businesses, top corporations, nonprofits, associations and government agencies.
