HRH Princess Máxima of the Netherlands

Her Royal Highness Princess Máxima of the Netherlands will deliver the keynote address at the first SOCAP/Europe conference on 'Impact Investing' to be held May 30th - June 1st in Amsterdam. Princess Máxima will deliver her speech at the start of the conference on May 30. She will speak in her role as the 'Special Advocate for Inclusive Finance for Development' of the Secretary General of the United Nations.

Princess Máxima's keynote will be followed by the panel discussion 'This Moment in Europe, This Moment in the World', in which European leaders in inclusive finance examine the rising populist demand for financial practices and services that provide not only financial return but also environmental and social return. Amongst the plenary speakers are Marilou van Golstein Brouwers of Triodos Investment Management and Klaus Tischhauser of responsAbility. Both organizations have signed the United Nations Principles for Responsible Investment.

Other speakers and participants in the conference include John David Liu, filmmaker of 'Hope in a Changing Climate;' Jean-Philippe de Schrevel of Blue Orchard/Bamboo and Arun Gore of Grey Ghost Investments. More than 100 young entrepreneurs from all over the world will join international investors, foundations, policy makers and academics who all feel that investment should provide not only financial return, but also return good for the world.

Impact Investing and SOCAP
Impact Investing is a relatively new and fast-growing movement of capital that is aimed towards investing in businesses and efforts that work towards solving global problems - while also generating a financial return. The movement began with microfinance but investments in projects in sustainable energy, education, affordable housing, agriculture or access to financial or health services are quickly gaining ground.

The Impact Investing conference is organized by SOCAP/Europe, a cross-continent partnership between SOCAP Events in the US and Amsterdam's PYMWYMIC (Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is Community). Frank van Beuningen, founder of PYMWYMIC started Europe's first impact investing fund in 1997 and has since seeded 30 impact companies.

San Francisco-based SOCAP ("Social Capital") is a multi-platform organization dedicated to the flow of capital towards social good, connecting leading global innovators - investors, foundations, institutions and social entrepreneurs - to build a marketplace at the intersection of money and meaning. After three successful gatherings in San Francisco, SOCAP now comes to Europe for the first time: returning to the place where in the 17th century the capital markets were created, the Beurs van Berlage in Amsterdam.
