VolunteerMatch, the Web's most popular network for volunteer engagement, will announce the winners of its Corporate Volunteer Awards on May 12 at the VolunteerMatch Client Summit in Chicago, Illinois.

VolunteerMatch, a national nonprofit based in San Francisco, strengthens communities by making it easier for good people and good causes to connect. The service supports an online community of organizations, businesses, schools, volunteer centers and municipalities that share a commitment to engaging volunteers in the United States and beyond. Last year more than 8 million volunteers, 140 companies and tens of thousands of nonprofit organizations participated in VolunteerMatch programs.

This will be the fifth year that VolunteerMatch has presented its awards, which support VolunteerMatch's mission by recognizing excellence in volunteer engagement and social impact in the VolunteerMatch family of corporate clients. Winners and finalists have not only achieved success in their own volunteer programs, they also serve as models for how companies of all sizes can inspire and engage employees and consumers in making a difference.

The award categories this year include:

  • Employee Volunteer Program (Large Businesses) - Recognizing outstanding performance in 2010 against VolunteerMatch client benchmarks for Employee Volunteer Programs with more than 10,000 participants.

Finalists for this award include: Exelon Corporation, Google, Inc., Los Alamos National Laboratory, Morgan Stanley, and UnitedHealth Group.

  • Employee Volunteer Program (Small-Medium Businesses) - Recognizing outstanding performance in 2010 against VolunteerMatch client benchmarks for Employee Volunteer Programs with fewer than 10,000 participants.

Finalists for this award include: Amway Corporation, Boehringer Ingelheim, Hagerty Insurance, Logicalis, and NV Energy.

  • Champion of the Year - This award goes to the program administrator or administrators in corporate volunteering who demonstrated outstanding "teamwork, leadership, accomplishment, dedication, and spirit" in 2010.

  • Breakout Performance - New for this year, the Breakout Performance award recognizes significant success in 2010 for a newly launched program within the VolunteerMatch family of companies.
