Global Impact, whose mission is to assure help for the world's most vulnerable people, announced today that the 2010 Combined Federal Campaign of the National Capital Area (CFCNCA) and Combined Federal Campaign-Overseas (CFC-O) each received the National CFC Innovator Award from the Office of Personnel Management. The Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) is the only approved workplace giving program for Federal employees supporting local, national and international charities.

"It is an honor to manage the two largest CFCs, raising more than $80 million annually for people in need," said Renée S. Acosta, President & CEO, Global Impact. "Each year, we strive to deliver a stable source of funds to the more than 4,000 participating charities with the introduction of new strategies that resonate with the very generous Federal donors who ensure this help year after year."

The Office of Personnel Management annually recognizes campaigns and volunteers who make extraordinary contributions to the CFC through their dedication and creativity. CFC Innovator Awards are presented to campaigns that implemented an innovative strategy to support fundraising efforts. This is the eighth consecutive year for the CFCNCA and the fourth consecutive year for the CFC-O to receive the award.

Highlights from the award-winning campaigns include:

  • A comprehensive communications campaign for the CFC-O including an online publicity kit to assist volunteers in promoting the campaign overseas, increased use of social media and an advertising campaign to reach donors at each installation worldwide.

  • A young donor strategy for the CFCNCA including a special event, social media outreach and tailoring of messages to better engage younger Federal employees.

Since Global Impact began managing the two largest CFCs, funds raised to help people in need increased from $54 million to more than $80 million in 2010.
