For the eighth year in a row, UPS (NYSE:UPS) has been named to the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) for North America, based on the company's economic, environmental and social practices. UPS ranked in the top 20% of corporations in the Industrial Goods and Services sector in North America and scored above the industry group's average in the three areas.

"UPS is pleased to once again be included in the DJSI," said Bob Stoffel, senior vice president, supply chain, strategy, engineering and sustainability. "We see this as recognition of our sustainability leadership and long-term commitment to transparency and of our efforts to balance the social, economic and environmental aspects of our business."

The DJSI utilizes a best-in-class approach and includes sustainability leaders from each industry on a global and regional level respectively, assessing issues such as corporate governance, risk management, branding, climate change mitigation, supply chain standards and labor practices.

UPS's placement on DJSI North America Index is just the most recent recognition of the company's sustainability efforts. Earlier this year, UPS was named to Corporate Responsibility magazine's 100 Best Corporate Citizens; Maplecroft's Climate Innovative Index, and BusinessWeek's Best Companies for Leaders. UPS was also recognized as a "World’s Most Admired" company in the delivery industry and ranked No. 1 in the world for its commitment to social responsibility. In addition, United Way recognized the company, its employees and retirees for reaching $1 billion in total contributions since its annual workplace campaign began in 1982.
