Global Impact, a leader in global philanthropy whose mission is to assure help for the world's most vulnerable people, recently announced that The American Himalayan Foundation joined its alliance of 55 U.S.-based international relief and development charities. The American Himalayan Foundation, a nonprofit organization, touches the lives of 300,000 Tibetans, Sherpas and Nepalis every year through more than 150 effective, human-scale projects.

"The American Himalayan Foundation supports projects that provide hope, opportunity and help directly to those who need it, which complements and supports our mission," said Renée S. Acosta, President and CEO of Global Impact. "They are committed to helping those who have no one else and to projects that produce tangible results. We are delighted to welcome them as one of our distinguished member charities."

Global Impact raises funds for 55 of the most respected U.S.-based international relief and development charities. Each Global Impact member charity is carefully evaluated before being invited to join the alliance and must demonstrate a commitment to helping the world's most vulnerable people. Rigorous membership criteria ensures that member charities meet the highest standards through their work in international humanitarian relief and development, including integrity in program implementation, sound financial management and program effectiveness.

"This alliance with Global Impact will expand the reach of our programs, broaden engagement with new donors and provide additional revenue to support critical projects," said Erica Stone, President of The American Himalayan Foundation. "We look forward to the opportunities associated with membership and are pleased to be in the company of such a respected group of member charities."

Global Impact's commitment to financial integrity results in excellent ratings including the Charity Navigator Four-Star Rating, the Seal Holder status from the Better Business Bureau Wise Giving Alliance and an administrative and fundraising expense ratio of 5.16%, a small fraction of the 35% deemed acceptable by the Better Business Bureau.
